Long read
A longer passage, so you can judge a theme the way you'll actually use it: reading. At content_width = 850 the measure stays comfortable, and the text below runs long enough to test how paragraphs breathe across a full page.
The best themes are quiet. They don't announce themselves; they get out of the way and let the words carry. You notice a bad theme immediately โ the contrast fights you, the links are too loud, the code blocks glow like warning signs. A good theme you only notice when you go looking for it, the way you notice good typography: as an absence of friction.
That's the real test for the palettes in this gallery. Anyone can pick pretty colors. The harder question is whether those colors hold up over a thousand words, when your eyes have settled in and every small misjudgment โ a muted grey that's a shade too faint, a border that's a hair too dark โ starts to add up. Reading is cumulative. Small costs compound.
Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works. โ and a theme works when you forget it's there.
So spend a minute here in each theme. Scroll. Let a paragraph or two go by. Check that the headings still feel like headings after the novelty wears off, that the link color is findable without being distracting, that the page is somewhere you'd be happy to spend an afternoon.
If it passes that test โ if you'd read a long document in it without reaching for the theme button โ then it's earned a place in your site. That's the whole point of a gallery: not to dazzle, but to help you find the one you'll stop noticing.
